QHS Staff Hold Time For A Cuppa Event Raising Money For Dementia UK
Dementia is a huge and growing UK health crisis. By 2025, over one million people in the United Kingdom will be living with the condition, and virtually everyone knows someone affected, whether it’s a family member or a friend. That is why thanks to the personal initiative of Michaela White and Andrea Reed (and their baking expertise!), they asked the rest of the staff at QHS's head offices in High Wycombe on Friday 6th May 2022 to make "Time For A Cuppa" to raise money for Dementia UK.
Dementia UK is a specialist dementia nurse charity, whose nurses (who are called "Admiral Nurses") provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. Dementia UK's specialist Admiral Nurses are a lifeline to families facing dementia as they rightly believe every family should have their support. But right now, they can’t reach everyone who needs them.
So by senior QHS staff like Managers Michaela and Andrea, putting themselves out to make Time for a Cuppa, they along with hundreds of others in the UK during Time For A Cuppa Week (1st to 8th May 2022) raised vital funds to help Dementia UK support and develop more Admiral Nurses so no one has to face dementia alone. Sharing a cup of tea and a slice of cake is an excellent way to bring people together. And by taking part and making donations, QHS staff have chosen to help more families receive the life-changing support of Dementia UK's specialist dementia nurses.
Including auctioning a teddy bear, sales of cakes and goodies to fellow members of staff on the day Michaela and Andrea along with their co-workers raised several hundred pounds for Dementia UK.
